SUMMER!!!!!!!
Oh it's here, it really, truly is!!!! Yesterday, was a perfect day......
I went and saw a really good, yet disturbing movie. Palindromes, I may need to see that one again to fully appreciate it. It was beautifully accurate about the feelings of a young girl. We do not all go through the trials and tribulations that she does, but we can all identify with the innocence that is lost and the confusion of that age. On a much smaller scale for most of us, but not all, we can identify with the emotions, self-worth and body image issues and that insane notion that something external will make us happy, fufilled and worthy of our place in this world and our life. There were humorous parts that made you ponder......is any of this really humorous? Why am I laughing? Am I really laughing at myself? And really how did those actors' parents allow them to make that movie? But the Christian pop group rocked!!!!! Very S-Club!
Then I sat on the patio of my favourite bars and and a few drinks, with some friends, old and brand new. It was one of those nights where everyone is happy and friendly, the warm weather and the cold beer were to blame for that. We sat and talk about the places we have traveled, the places we are from, the places we are going to, books, music, the state of the wine world, product placement in hip-hop videos, "Family Guy", Chapelle show, but, the key issues of the evening was, really where was the closest place to go buy smokes and who had to get off there ass to get them! "Not me," said I, since I do not par-take in their cancer stick addiction. But, alas , I am a nice person, the walk did me some good and I couldn't let my friend go all by herself! On our little adventure we met some other friends and stopped to shoot the breeze, get caught up, asked about the punk band playing in the bar next door and wished them happy drinking. People came from all over, as far away as Sweden. There was a debate about dancing and moving elsewhere, but none of us could bare to abandon our friend the bartender and the comfort and familiarity of that place. And so on that warm evening, come early morning, in the smoky haze of the patio strangers became friends, friends became closer and we all got a little drunker.
