An UGLY incident
Student A: Arrived in Canada from non-English speaking country Sept 2004. Really sweet kid, hard worker, has done fucking amazingly well.
Student B: Lazy little, nosy shit. Sucky, Bossy, no-it-all(nothing). Been in Canada all their life, English 1st language. Doesn't give a rat's ass about their work, puts no effort in at all.
Student A puts in 1000 % all the time and as a result is actually a better writer than Student B.
Student A and B are friends, sit together in class. A asks B how to spell the word ugly as any good student would, using all opportunities to learn (ie not bugging me about it).
Day 2: A asks B again, same question. B teases A about not knowing how to spell ugly A gets upset and holds it back until recess. At recess tells teacher (me) and starts to bawl because her "friend" is a bitch. I being the loving teacher I am calm her down ASAP, she should be proud of herself blah, blah, blah..... I need to pee, go away!
B comes in from recess, well they have come from the library where they were not supposed to be. I pull B inside and ask why they did this to A. As they open their mouth to explain, I let them know that there is no explanation so they should save their breath and continue to tell them that they are a lazy little shit, who would do way better than the C- they get if they did more than the minimum. Who, being a native English speaker, spells way worse than A. That really I'm not sure why A was asking them since they are such a crap speller. And what sort of "friend" are they teasing someone they know has been in Canada for a mere 1.5 years, who didn't speak English when they arrived because they were checking how to spell a word. That they didn't make a mistake, that they did it to be mean, they were malicious and cruel. Did B tease another student who had only been in Canada since august, because they shouldn't because that kids is also a better spell/student than them. That really they were in no position to be teasing anyone about being a bad speller.
At this point the rest of the class was beginning to cause a ruckus as I had been having a go at Student B for a good 7 mins, in the same vain. Unfortunately I had to stop.......and I was on a roll!!!!
High point: I haven't had a good go at a kid in awhile, it was good practice. Low point: They didn't cry. FUCK I'm out of practice!!! I did stop myself from suggesting that the reason A was looking up the word ugly was because they were writing about B.
Although I kid, Student A has done amazingly well, is quite bright and a really great kids. Student B is still a mean, lazy, nosy little shit.
1 Comments:
